The artificial lake of Aoos' sources is situated
about 15 km from Metsovo in the plateau
Politsies in a beautiful location. It was initially

Metsovo is famous for its great cultural
development, mainly because it is the place
of origin of some of the most important
National Benefactors, such as Averof,
Tositsas etc. An important museum
of Folkloric art, an excellent art gallery as well
as two libraries are found there. Those who

Not only in Metsovo but in the wider
area of Ioannina prefecture, you will
meet a lot of of watermills and wells which
were used by people in old times in order
to water their fields and drink water. A lot
of watermills are maintained in good condition
today, such as the watermill of Guina that is
found in Metsovo. The watermill Guina is
situated by the bank of Arachthos river near
the monastery of Virgin Mary. It was renovated by the Municipality in
1997 and it is connected with the monastery but also with the city of
Metsovo with a picturesque paved alley. It has been characterized as a Historical Preservable Monument and allocates permanent guardian.
